Moving Clams?

Anyone have a neat trick to remove a clam that has attached to a rock? I'm hesitant to cut it off with a razor blade, it's fixed itself on there pretty good. I've done some research but nothing seems too promising.

Thanks!

How big is the rock? If its small enough just leave it on there. If you can get the rock out easy you may be able to break the rock. and leave the clam attached to a small piece.

It's a pretty good sized rock and it's solid. The clam is attached right at the thinnest part and I'm afraid it will split right at it's foot if I try to break it. I might just do anyway and cross my fingers I guess...

honestly if its attached that means its happy, I wouldn't move it!

Paul, the ice cube trick doesn't work, I think that's an old wives tale haha..........the foot is used to spin themselves around and right them after being knocked over, the byssal threads is what they attach with and they hold tight!!

What if you turned the rock so that the clam was less happy? Would it loosen to turn itself? Maybe a nice tilt followed by patient observation.
