    Ran into Sputnik last night at dinner and we were talking about the tank transfer metheod. Thought I'd post up for anyone who was interested in treating for ich, this way;

    Good stuff. I'd like to start my new tank off MI free. I think I'll do the tank transfer method. However, that only gets it off the fish. The only way to be sure would be to transfer my coral and live rock, wait 8 weeks to make sure any that was on them has died, then add fish.

    I know we have some people that quarantine new fish, but does anyone here quarantine coral , inverts, and live rock?

    You'd need to do that too to make sure none is introduced.

    I will QT fish, if I don't know where they are coming from. I do dip corals. With the transfer method, you would be removing the cysts as they fall off. IDT you would have to do this with fish in QT, unless they are showing signs of an infection. You could use UV in conjunction with transfer to help kill more off.
