is it possible to cross breed??

just curious if you had 2 different breeds of clowns for say: fry of a maroon and fry of a black percula could they grow up together in tank on their own and become mates since they change sex on their own and breed into a different and new species?

Some say being a big REEFER is illegal... I think it's all in what type of plants you grow. lol

yes. There are several cross bred species of clownfish. I know sanjay did it with an onyx perc and black ocellaris.

cross breeding is a hot topic for argument among the more serious breeders

    We call it hybridization

but to answer your question the answer is yes... in fact most of the designer clownfish you see out there are either manipulations of cross breeding, or manipulations of genetic mutations... and more often now... both!

When I was at MACNA, I spoke to one of the original breeders from ORA. He told me that they would cross breed things by accident, at the time and of course never sold them. He told me he once got a maroonolleris!

Yes, and it's getting very popular. Breeders now are searching to bring out something different in the hopes for recognition like Dr. Sanjay, former Doni Reef,Boohah. Currently,I have a juvenile snowcasso from TBA with a phantom mature adult from Sea and Reef. I'm hoping 6 months some positive results.
