    T5 Fixtures

    just throwing this out there.....

how many 54w T5 bulbs do you guy's think I "Should" put over a 120g tank, with mainly LPS and zoa's, and a couple monti's up high in the tank... I was looking at these coralvue 6 bulb fixtures, and thinking about buying 2 of them. that would put 12 bulbs and 648w over it. I am thinking that would be plenty for what I mentioned above.... The reason for the coralvue fixtures would be price. I can get them pretty cheap.

Hey Larry, I'd just get a real high quality one. This one would work great just by itself. You could grow most anything:

Plus he gives a 5% discount to SCMAS members. This is the best for the money over an ATI fixture. You'd really get all your money back at bulb replacement time, compared to two Coralvues.

This is probably the best you can get, but you have to wait a couple months to get it:

The coralvue units aren't cheap... just cheaper then that unit. Plus I still have 2 400w luminarc's I can shove over top of it...

For inexpensive, I would go with something like this...http://www.marinedepot.com/ps_ViewIt...ILTFIT58U.html
and right off the bat replace the lamps with mostly ATI lamps from either aquariumspecialty.com or reefgeek.com. For best color I would go 3 ATI Blue+ lamps (22000k), 1 ATI Aquablue special (12,000K), 1 UVL 75.25 (14,000k), and 1 GE 6500K. If you like more white just replace one of the Blue+ with an Aquablue special.

There are no fans on Teks so the light output is poor. What you need is something with individual reflectors and fans.

ok, so I spoke to david at coralvue, and apparently there is a new T5 fixture coming out soon from them. He is going to send me specs and pics on tuesday when he gets back in the office. I think for now, I am going to get 1 6 bulb current coralvue fixture since I need lights, and I haven't hung the 400's, and plan on using them for something else... then buy the better fixture when it's out in 2 months, depending on what it's specs are.

Don't know if this is anything you could use. We have a 72" coralife fixture for sale.

It has 3 250 w mh and 4 96 watt power compacts. It also has lunar lights and fans built into the fixture.

Includes new mh bulbs less then 3 mo old.

    Light is in EXCELLENT condition.

$500 which includes both the hanging cables and the legs for over the tank instillation
