Two weeks ago I had snails that clogged my over flows. Upon clearing the overflows I ended up cracking an acrylic algea scrubber that i built into my sump.
I used GE II silicone to repair the algea scrubber. Let it cure for only a day and reinstalled it. It only took about a day until all the sps in my tank died.
At first I thought it could have been due to many different variables. I finally figured out that GE II silicone is the culprit.
My question is, what do I do now? Will simply removing and recaulcing be enough or is the chemicals for mold inhibitors going to make my rock/sand/tank useless moving forward?
I have read a lot of contradicting posts on GE II. Some people swear it just needs time to cure and can be used safely if cured for 2 weeks, others say the mold resistant chemicals will continue to kill the tank regardless of cure time.
Does anyone have experience with this silicone?
