Looking for Aquarists to Interview for a National Geographic Story

    Hello!

I was active on here quite a few years back (2008-2009?). You guys were instrumental in getting my tank off the ground and in helping me do some research projects that ended up getting me into college.

Since then, I’ve graduated with a degree in marine biology, and now work for a virtual reality company out in San Francisco. On the side, I was named a National Geographic Young Explorer, and have done two projects with them so far. One to drive an ice cream truck across America (http://www.theicecreamexpedition.com/), and the other to study the highest elevation road in the world out in the Himalayas (http://www.thehighestroad.com/). I’m now working with a team on a third project, to study the saltwater aquarium fish supply chain.

When you take a step back, it is crazy to think that a bunch of people up at 6,000-7,000’ in landlocked Colorado end up caring for fish that came from reefs on the other side of the world. This story is focused on that process. My team and I have traveled to Indonesia to talk with collectors, middlemen, and exporters. We’re hoping to connect these groups with stories from aquarists in Colorado.

I’ll be in Colorado Springs next week from Saturday-Wednesday. One of the main camera guys will be here on Monday through Wednesday. Would anyone be open to talk about their aquarium and their experience with the hobby during that time? It would be much appreciated!
