    Just thinking out loud here, but might consider no back panel so you get better air exchange inside the stand.

    Rustoleum hammered finish or Hammerite. It will inhibit rust, if there is any there, as well as well as prevent rust.

    I used to use a two part epoxy (appliance repair) to coat the inside of my tank hoods. Almost any paint store and even wal-mart carries some variety of it...looked in garage for you but the left over I had is dried up. Several varieties out there even Rustoleum has one, Have fun and looking great!
