I'm toying with a small skimmer on this tank more as a means for oxygenation than filtration. Should be interesting.

Have you considered this new microbubbling fad thing gong on? Hear lots of good about it, but mostly from one or two sources...was considering giving it a shot on my biocube

I considered it, but I still don't believe that people really have the ability to create "nano bubbles" in aquariums.

Was thinking that too, maybe with a wood air stone and a needle wheel impeller on The return. Still seems kinda counterintuitive to some of the stuff I was taught growing up in the hobby. Bubbles were supposed to be bad

Might be possible, but that's just not enough for me haha.

I've been trying it. Regular air stone by the intake and I also put one of my WP60's up by the surface so it sucks in air. Fills with bubbles pretty well. Corals slime off stuff. No negatives noticed so far. I've seen things like little pieces of egg crate that were left behind from when I took out my rock wall pieces, that were hanging out on the sand bed or behind stuff, start floating up. Based that I think it probably helps lift detritus to be sent through my filter sock. Haven't done it enough times to see if it is making a big difference.
Don't look here for a comment.

Only draw back to micro bubbles I see is when they burst at the top, the create salt creep.

It's an interesting theory. I'm just sticking to bubbles inside a skimmer for now.

Just installed one of these on one of my tanks over the weekend. Sounds like it might be similar to what you're thinking.

You don't want to spend $150 on three pieces of PVC?

Finally had to move the acanthophyllia to a different tank when it started fighting with a chalice.
