Thank you. I did go a different way than the standard 2x4 frame. I really didn't like all the room the 2x4's took up so I used 3/4" hardwood plywood. I built the bottom frame with 2x4's laying down and built up from there. I used the same concept as those cheap stands I've seen but with better quality plywood.

Would love to see some blueprints, specs, pics or drawings. I need to so a really nice stand to make mama happy when I present the new tank that she hasn't fully given me thumbs up for.

Well...the blueprints are in my head, I think. I'll try getting them down on paper and post them.

Loving it coach.....I know once I get moved this summer I'm gonna plan on a shallow build as well. Are you only using 3/4" plywood for your stand?

Thank you. I love the dimensions of this tank. I've always wanted a shallow reef tank; I'm too short for a tall tank anyway. Yes, I am only using 3/4" plywood in the stand.

Here are the plans I sketched up for my stand. I forgot to add on the plans a piece of 3/4" plywood across the back, bottom portion of the stand. That piece was approximately 2' tall and stretched the length of the stand. I started by gluing and screwing the top of the stand to side panels. I then glued the front pieces in and clamped them down. Once I had them in place I screw them down. Finally, I built the base in the bottom and screwed it in. I then used molding around the top and bottom and 1/4 molding down the two front sides.

If you have any questions, let me know.

Did you use a pocket jig to put it all together?

You can use a biscuit joiner when gluing the pieces together.

Biscuit jointer would have worked well. I just clamped it then screwed it.
