The "it's about freaking time Charles" 180 build

Alright! So as some of you may or may not be aware I acquired Jonathan old 180 several months ago and it's taking up a huge chunk of real estate in the garage. I have been waiting, not for lack of equipment but for household projects to be completed that are in the way, such as the living room floors and walls. Long story short, I went out one day and came home to find my pregnant girlfriend, mrshoneybear, had ripped the carpet up in the living room. Nice natural hardwood floors underneath. So I took on the task of sanding and refinishing the floor. The sanding part has been done for a while but with school and babies and not having enough hands to juggle all 3 the staining of the floor got pushed off until today, where thanks to baby Daniels grandma visiting I was able to clear re house out and Charlie Mike my plans.

This will be a chronicle of sorts, an amazing journey if you will. Come friends... walk with me.

After a harrowing day filled with anger and frustration our hero has finally applied the third and hopefully final coat of poly. Fret not friends for pictures are coming. Tapatalk and my wifi aren't getting along too well. I'll have to upload them on the desktop first and leAnn's mamma sleeps in there and old people go to bed early, isn't that right Roy?

I digress, it looks decent for a first time DIY floor refinish. Thanks to both Tim and Paul (bloodhound) for all the tips and advice, really helped a bunch.

Finally it's a floor. Thanks again to both Roy and John for the invaluable advice and help with the trim. Pictures of that to follow later but for now here's the floor before and after shots

    Before

    After

The walls have also been painted. Time to get off the crapper and get this tank going

The only problem I see with that floor is no tank. Can't wait for you to get it going.

So. We decided to rearrange the house a little. We're going to move our bedroom back upstairs and convert the downstairs to a tank room/play room (scary I know)/nice size futon for guests room/ we just want our living room upstairs to be not crowded with a 180gallon tank room haha. It'll make tank maintenance way easy cause I use the laundry room adjacent to the downstairs as my water change station and waste water spot. So yeah. The tank is still gonna be a minute though cause there's just other stuff and with me working full time AND going to school it's insane.

First step is still the stand that needs refinishing. Hopefully this weekend I can take a few minutes to pull it out of the garage and get hot on it.

Might be looking for a few helping hands this weekend. There'll be beer of course and I'm thinking pizza. If everything pans out keep your peepers peeled here and I'll post in the next few days. O.o
