How long can I go without my protein skimmer?

The sedra 3500 on my ASM G2 took a dive today and I won't have money to replace it till next Friday so with that and what ever shipping time.

What are the repercussions of no skimmer for a couple weeks?

Should I cut back on feeding for the duration?

I have been running skimmerless for 2 days now myself... By choice though. And haven't slowed my feedings down either. I guess as long as your fish eat what you put in the tank maybe you'd be good. Your live rock and if you have a fuge provide a pretty amazing filtration system of their own

Did you manually skim with newspaper though? Old man style?

I ran for almost a year without a skimmer. It really depends upon your bio load.

My 2 cents, it depends on the coral you are trying to keep too. If you have an sps dominate tank it probably isn't a good idea to go long without a skimmer. Whereas some other corals can tolerate dirtier water.

I have only lps and soft coral. Four fish medium to small in size.

I haven't been getting very much in the collection cup in the last few weeks but the could have been the pump getting weaker as it died

I've been researching replacement pump and I'm getting mixed reviews about the sedra pump that came with the skimmer. what is everyone's opinion on them? And does anyone know of a deferent brand that will work on an ASM G2 without a lot of major re-plumbing?
