Hooked up the nem tank. It isnt plumbed to the return pump yet but, I added a few heaters and a wp40 to get some flow. Threw some water in it this morning so that the rodi can continue to make water. Its cloudy because the salt wasnt mixed yet.

Havent decided where my massive ball of chaeto will go yet. Needed a place, found a temporary place, cut some egg crate, developed a place.

Bought his barrel from the colonel for a larger top off tank. Eric gave me the idea (murfman invented it), cut the top off, flip the lid, and now you can dismantle and clean when needed. (I can cut a perfectly straight line on anything except for a barrel) (if you ever need help with doing this, DO NOT ASK ME) the idea worked great. I may have found the problem to the colonel's hair algae.

Didn't plan on the ato tank going here however, you couldnt ask for a better fit. Ato will be gravity fed. 55 gallons shouldnt be enough to change the salinity on the system if the float switch was to ever get stuck. One less pump. 5 bucks more in my pocket instead of the electric company

Saltwater mixing barrel 95 % complete now. I broke the head unit while tightening due to a small leak, so I am waiting for another.

This system will top off itself, mix my new salt, fill up the sump with new sw, and has a flex hose unit that can fill up buckets for the 60 cube.

About 40 or so fish in the frag flat during eating time. Most are waiting for the new tank to be set up. Some will be finding a new home.

Ok. Got started on the system at 3ish today and just finished for the day. 530 am came fast. Plumbing is so much fun.

Most of the down stairs is done now. Today will be the actual fishtank lol. The closed loop, lights wp40's and return/drain lines all have to be done. Sand is already rinsed and in the tank. Rock work has not even been started but I am sure I will figure that out as I go.

Bad picture but I traded another member for tanks. This one will be used for the chaeto and a ton of mangroves. Not sure if I will have the time to build the stand today but...

The live rock tank/sump showed up today. The tank was covered in alage and was missing parts of the trim. After doing some reasearch (calling levi- he knows the ins and outs about tank structre) I found out that the trim was for show only. I cleaned the snot out of it and took off the trim. Shaving silicone off of the tank was not on the agenda today but it did turn out nice. Elbow grease and the right tools and bam. Its done.

Built a small stand for the return pump and she painted.
Hooked up the return to the water change line. Got the ato tank in place and started making 100gpd.

Due to me leaving on very short notice I asked some people from the club to come by for a fish tank building party.

    Brian. Mangrove cheato stand

Brian. Scrapping off some plastic for the new m&c tank.

Doyle. Brought over some corals that he has been holding for me. He is getting rid of unwanted rock and taking care of the fish.

Not working? Bs ing as usual.

Brian. Plumbing out the new tank.

Sonia. Hanging up tools like a pro

    Progress pic.

    Eric. Closed loop plumbing

(Authors notes- Levi left at 415 this morn with the return lines finished.)

Added the second skimmer. The first is the big boy in charge of cleaning the system. The second is to pull the waste from the bio pellet reactor and clean up on anything missed by the 1st. The carbon reactor was placed in the final chamber of the sump to polish all of the water before hittin the live rock tank.

Big ol mess of chaeto was added. I am almost positive that this tank will be ran off of natural sunlight from the basement window but for now I mounted a 120 watt led. The other side is where the mangroves sit after they come in. right now, it is just holding some leftover frags and urchins. We will see how it goes.

The nem tank turned out awesome. I had to place a few rocks in there that I didnt want to because i didnt have the hour to pry them up. This tank will look great when its covered in these bright little bugers.

Lights out. Filtration and plumbing. Done sauce

Not the greates shots but here is the display. Took about an hour just to get all of the corals in there.

We finished the tank at 430 this morning. On the road at 9 headed to nc.

My plan with the nem tank is to not have a ton of rock. I placed the two small rocks to give the mothers a nice structure. All of the babies will run out of space and have to attach themselves to the glass where they will be easily removed. Need to double and triple check my water quality over the next month to ensure that there are no spikes (since the sytem just went from 0 to 30 fish. Im really expecting 0 and very little diatom boom, if any), before I throw in a sunburst, lemon drop etc... I should be fine due to the overkill of mechanical and biological filtration that I have emplaced. Chemically I added 3 cups of natural bacteria to help jumpstart the system.

I also added 200 gallons of my old water from the frag flat.

Well. "We" (aka levi) ran into a few bumps over the last 2 months while he was maintaining the system.

Over the next 2 months, I will be adding a new subpanel to the basement to control the whole system. Hooking up the apex to run the system and control the carpet tank. Adding a 90 gallon qt tank that will allow new fish to acclimate to my water (via current water changes to fill it up and seperate drain lines to the house drain so that the water never recirculates back into the system). Changing the rock work in the dt. Wrapping the stand to match the already finished canopy.

I will post as I go. Good to be back.
