Lol, I see more and more people crawling back to reality these days. Don't get me wrong LEDs have their place and they can be great if you get 3x what you think you need. What I see is alot of led fixtures now use almost as much energy as halides did but you don't get any heat so now you just run heaters more and you end up with just as much or more electrical usage. I will however be using one on my nem tank I have planned so I can't dog on them too hard.

This will be my only tank with them. Honestly, I can do with a slower growth at 80% color in my dt because I don't want to have to clip my corals all the time. But in my shallow, I plan on fragging, trading and selling sooooo.

Halides should offer the best color and growth

I picked up some 400w halides and radium bulbs to mimic Kirby’s tank

Went with a 48" 2x 250 watt fixture with 96 watt compacts to spread the coverage over the 39" wide tank. I was afraid that the nice reflectors that you have would give a spotlight affect over this tank. Awesome for a 24"wide tank but I think I would need 4 halides if I went that route. If my idea doesn't work I will hit you up for the reflectors.

I will be supplementing with led fixtures to keep up the intensity and give the actinic coral pop effect.

Ok so you’re growing out the hallucination in our polyp growth challenge under the halides?

Mine is under led too, I’ll “hide” it under the halides so nobody will want it till I put back under the leds

Yeah. It's mind boggling how a coral looks so BA under the leds and complete crap under the halides. Other than SPS, I think all corals look that way.
