Hair algae and may be cyano

The 40 breeder is getting a little hair algae and possibly champ. I want to nip it before it gets bad. I just put all new lights in the T5. Should I cut back on lighting? Running whites 6 hours and blues 8 hours. Run my sump light 24 hours.

The stuff I now use for my tanks. I'm working on a cal and all package too. It's dry powder so all you have to do is mix it into a gallon of water and shake it.

But don't break it, took ya momma 9 months to make it...

    Lol. Ok I'm done

Seems like I scrape the glass and more algae appears. What am I missing? Never had an algae outbreak on the glass like this before??

No skimmers allowed. Thinking of running an airstone. Think that'll help?

Your air pump will only supply available air. It won't produce oxygen. If you set it outside, maybe. What is your Alk at? If it is down. You can buffer with baking soda to raise pH. Don't know if it will be enough though.
What is your pH level anyway?
For the hair algae. Have you checked your phosphate level. Hair algae is not a problem. It is the result of a problem. Take away the food and algae will die back.

I've never tested ALk. So I don't know. Guess I need to get a tester. I am running T5 New bulbs. Running all lights 8 hours and blues a total of 10 hours. Should I cut that back? I'm at wits end with this tank!

pH is low but is ok. As long as it is stable. Higher would be better but you are not in a dangerous area yet.
To fully get a handle on what's going on, you need to get test kits. It is safe insurance considering your coral investment. Get your self a mag, Calcium and Alk test kit and start there. I use Salifert test kits for Mag, Alk and Calc. API for the rest including phosphate. But others have had good results with other brands. Your phosphates cound be elevated causing the hair algae.
Are you doing water changes? How much, How often?
What are you feeding? Do you have any nutrient export? Macro algae's in your sump. Have you got your sump set up yet? Time to get back to the basics.
You have seen my lighting - I'm running my T5 for 9 hrs a day. But they are elevated above the water more than most.

Good move. $60 is little more than half of one black hornet polyp.
Once your parameters are in check - We can take the next step.
