    Birds nest all dead wth?

My Hollywood stunner is fine and my whatever the same as the coral grow out contest is fine but I had three desperate frags of birds nest that till this morning had full polyp extension are now all white with few polyps left. The weird thing is the polyps that are left are extended...???

I've had birdnest look great when the lights go out and be smoked in the morning. For no apparent reason. Everything else looking great.

ok guess its not just me then. Bummer, I tested everything and all normal for ph, ammonia, nitrite/nitrates/phosphates so I am thinking its because I backed down on my lighting schedule by 2 hours and replaced the moonlight leds. The new moonlight leds are super bright and each birdnest is pretty much directly under the moonlight leds. Cant imagine that 3x3w leds for moonlight could do that but who knows.

Watch your pH guys. This is the time of year that your pH will drop if you have the house closed up with no fresh air exchange to get rid of the CO2.

It does help keep it up. When the house is closed tight the CO2 will rise. Thus causing a drop in pH. I think Murf has a fan that brings fresh air into his tank area during the winter. I have a small fan in the window to recirculate some outside air when it is warm enough outside to do that.

Not sure about buffer. I've never used any.
But even with the window and fan my pH will drop from 8.4 to 8.1 in the winter.
Maybe someone who has used buffer will chime in.

Would it help to get a small air pump and stone to put in the sump? I mean I'm running a skimmer so not sure that would help. Aren't there dissolved oxygen tabs one can buy?

So I need to get as much macros as I can, I have some sand, and make my sump into a sump/refuge with opposite lighting it looks like. Only real way to combat it is to keep photosynthesis going to produce more oxygen than co2

I was certain this was going to be an issue for me last winter so I bought a CO2 scrubber from BRS. Never had to use it. Probably get enough exchange letting the dog in and out the basement door.

I still have it in the bubble wrap and an unopened container of the media. If anyone is interested, shoot me a PM.
