Guy I work with ran into the Hoffmans in Vegas, this past Aug. They are mining in Tin Cup, Colo, this season.

So I guess Oregon was a bust. These guys have no idea what it takes. They had a good thing in the Yukon but gave it up to be closer to their families.
So did anyone notice the Hoffmans are also sporting new Volvo equipment?

Minus 49F yesterday. My check engine light and two other lights started flashing. I'm guessing it didn't believe what it was reading.

I don't know if you can see this video. Ever hear of the hot water trick? It was only 30 below, but it still worked.

Thanks to global warming and poor snow and ice conditions down south, the Iditarod will start in Fairbanks again this year (yay!).

There's a chapter in Fairbanks. I didn't know Harley made snow machines.

A glorious sunny morning for the start of the Iditarod in Fairbanks. Minus 22...balmy.
We flew home from Colorado yesterday. The guy at Keys Island referred us to Stone Aquatics. Amazing place, and we ran into Grasshoppa, who used to work with my wife at LensCrafters.
From 69 degrees and short sleeves to minus 22 and multiple thermal layers. A 91 degree temperature differential. What a shock to the system.

A cow moose and a yearling calf sleeping behind the house last night. Photographed by the light of a Maglight.

We got a few nice things from Stone Aquatics and almost a square foot of that glossy purple photosynthetic sponge from Keys. Their SPS frags were covered in red bug though.

Thanks. Ever since I switched to Reef Crystals things have been improving. There's no LFS here other than Petco, so we have to order whatever they don't carry. Anytime we fly out of state we try to stop at a good place for corals shortly before we go to the airport. Unfortunately, when you bring that much liquid you have to be subjected to full body searches by the TSA.

I stopped going into keys. Stone aquatics on the other hand was very impressive. Not one problem with any of the fish I bought. What'd you end up buying from stone aquatics?
