The rubber kept ripping tho. With the silicone, it works as a gasket. And if you do a bead on top and bottom then there's very little chance of leaking. Also, the lines have been tightened to the point that its sandwiched against the glass. I can't move them with manual pressure. Its a tight fit.

The green stuff is a pvc bonding compound. Instead of pvc primer, I used a glue that dries within seconds of contact. Very tough stuff. Tough enough that I could use the head for the Loc-Line as a bolt and I used a ratchet and socket to tighten down the bulk heads without any press in lines and fittings coming lose.

So I was cleaning all of the sand out of the tub of mine and decided to play around with how the rocks can be set up. My wife wanted an overhang in the structure so I took pictures of the results. uploadfromtaptalk1394491161308.jpg

I like that look. I've been planning to make one of my pieces similar to that. Another day of soaking then I cut some rocks down and start stacking. I want minimal sand contact and a tabling look. Yours looks great.

I have 4 round pieces I made that are 4" tall and 3" in diameter. Thats all the contact there is with sand but those pieces will be on the glass. Im going to coat the bottom with silicon to prevent damage. And my sand bed will only be about an inch deep.

So after many years in South Korea, coming back and buying a house... A lot of time and money later... I've finally set up my tank and got it cycling. Does anyone in the Fountain Mesa area have any Chaeto?

Coral, fish, eel, DIY rock and more live rock added. Having an issue with some nasty looking brown algae though that's being quite a pain. My clean up crew and fox face can't keep up. Any suggestions?

Looking good! My guess is diatoms on the algae, give it time, all part of the new ugly tank syndrome.

You could try lights out for three days and see if it helps.
