    Ugh.....cyno outbreak...

So two days ago I finally installed the skimmer after getting the replacement airstones. Tank was nice and clear.....til this afternoon. Substrate is turning brown in some spots but you can tell its lightly covering the rest of it when my crabs are in an area and it becomes white. I checked my levels today and nitrates are 5ppm with ammonia following at .25ppm, everything else 0. Wondering if anyone recommends something to do about it. I know turning off my lights will help but can I still leave the moonlights on during the 3 days of no lights?

When I did a 3 day or darkness I turned off all lights and covered the front so that no light comes and it worked good. But +1 on the feeding and you might have low flow

Are you positive its cyano or could it be a small diatom boom?

Water change. Till ammonia is gone. More than likely your tank needed to finish cycling after you added you decor. Grab a few more snails to help out with algae. Check you tds meter for new water added. Check your phosphates. I don't recommend changing to many things until you find the root of the issue. Keep us posted for sure.

I started dosing hydrogen peroxide at 1ml per gallon. Took out a lot of my Cyano. Works on regular algae and diatoms too.

+1 on diatoms. If you wanna compare what you have to some REAL cyano (LOL) come on over and I'll let ya have a look at the nem tank before you decide thats what it is.

I have tons of that with Collins daredevil stunts....lol. Will it affect the water chemistry as far as pH level and I'm guessing its coral n invert safe.

Now you have a small store down in fountain somewhere right. Am guessing weekends only but am sure the wife would still wanna come take a look for ideas.
