    What is this?

What are these small reddish brown bumps on my rock. I just set up my tank and it is finally done cycling and now I see these dark reddish brown things on my rock with green things coming out of them they look like rabbit ears. What are these things? Are they safe? or are they just going to populate and make things ugly?

the redish stuff looks like coralline algae and the green stuff looks like some kind of macro algae. Do you have any Tangs in your tank?

I don't have any fish in there. Its a brand new tank that just finished cycling. If you look close at the picture you can see green tenticals that look like small leaves coming out of some brownish red mounds.

Looks like macro to me. That's a good thing. As soon as you get a tang he'll eat them in the first 5 minutes.
