E - I can bring my DSLR when I come check this puppy out sometime next week. My photo skills are more than lacking, but you are welcome to give it a shot. This journal is too cool.

Pico is 3 gallon, I'm feeding by a wing and a prayer. I'm totally guessing, I just like to see lots of BBS floating around and don't want the babies to have to look far... With them in a 1L bottle, they don't have to worry about it. Before they move to the 3g they will have to be settled (legs on the ground and not floating) and at that time I'll take a stab at pellets.

Sweet! That would be great! I took a stab at some shots again tonight, and they were even worse than the day before, but I'm gonna post them anyway cause there is something new!!!! EYE STALKS!

Adding the pics to the journal on page 1, but you can see the progression from day 1 (not sure how I got that shot, cause I can't duplicate it) compared to day 8... You can see the eyes at day 1, but they are on the body. Day 8 they are clearly elongated!

The pics came out well. It's distinguishable for sure. There are a ton of BBS in there! They shouldn't have any trouble findin somethin to eat. I bet by the time you move them to the pico they'll be pretty efficient hunters. If they are settled at the botom then you could try the air tube siphon to help in nutrient export. That way you get to change your water and remove the pollutants at the same time. At any rate hell of a job.

Well crap, I'm down to about a dozen babies with a week to go until settlement... Not sure if I will have a shrimp before long. To make it worse, I don't have any adults left either to hope for another batch... wonder if I split the spawn into multiple bottles if I would have a better success rate? Not sure if I will try again or not.

Its always hard to tell what exactly went wrong. Sorry to hear about the adults too. Water Q ok? Maybe food difficiency for the growing babies? I dunno man. I think you did awesome for a first time for sure. Maybe you could document what you did this time and then make a change for the next. Then you'll be able to pinpoint the issues as you go along. Just thoughts here man. Good Job and good luck. I have had fun following

Thanks guys! Still counting approx 12-14 babies still floating around... Hoping to start seeing them settle beginning tomorrow! I can clearly see (under magnification) little legs that help them swim, clear eyes and stalks, and the sporadic tail flick that sends them through the water. Transfered them to a clean bottle this morning hoping to give them the best shot at settling. Need to run to PetsMart to get the smallest heater I can find... The Pico is at 65 degrees solid, so way too cold to run without one. Fingers Crossed!

It's not like you're gonna eat them or compete with them anyways. What could it hurt?

Really? Wow. They don't need to go through a metamorphosis to settle do they? Maybe it's a dietary thing. Missing some nutrient that instigates or helps the transition. I would be sick of BBS too!! Any info at the MBI? I know Joe hangs out over there with all the breeder gurus.

Every journal I've read says they settle on BBS after 26 days... ??? Maybe they just haven't been eating enough??? I have no idea... They are pretty large (by comparison) now but still not settled.
