Im looking at replacing the bulbs on my 29g biocube. I currently am running the stock pc lighting with 1 10k and 1 actinic. My question is should I replace the 10k with a 6700? I have read that the 6700 is better for tanks with corals. I currently have some polyps in there but looking at some other lps. I am going to replace the actinic due to it being about 9 months old from what I was told when I bought the set-up. also if anyone knows a good place to buy the led's, I would appreciate the info. 2 of the 3 need replaced. I will probably just replace all 3 so the last one dont go out on me right after I change the other 2 out.

That is old school theory. Most corals w have come from a little deeper waters. They get more blue light. I run 22k blue LEDs and the colors pop like crazy and I get excellent growth. 6700 is going to give you a real yellow color to the tank. It is all what you like though.

Wouldn't the actinic take care of the yellow tint?

They might balance out, but it would be tough to tell without trying it

I used to run 6700 and when I went to 10K it was OMG that is nice. Then I went to 12K and now the Blue LEDs. I like a nice, white tank. 68sting has the perfect tank for the aesthetics I prefer. IMO, I'd stay with the 10K. JMHO though.

ok thank you. I was not sure if the corals would do better under the 6700 or not. or if it would be worth it to change. I do like not having the yellow tint

68Stang was selling a LED unit, might give him a shout. That way when you upgrade you are killing two birds with one stone..
