hey guys seeking a little information. I have an evolution LED setup running over my 30 gallon oceanic cube. My question is how high should I hang it? SInce I began running this set up my algea is insane. This is a newer setup it was filled 100% with water from my 180. Nutrients are very minimal in it. Sump and skimmer runs excellent water paramaters are all good. Not sure if maybe the light is to close or something it is about 6in above the water. Any info or feedback will be greatly appreciated
thanks

How deep is the tank? I Have mine on my frag tank at about 24-26" but the tank is only 8" deep of water. On my 30" deep tank, I have 5 1/2 over SPS and 9" over zoas.

I had an algae bloom when I switched too. It settled down in a week or two, but I do have to clean the glass every two or three days as well. I keep mine about 10-12 inches from the water on my 180. I just watched how everything reacted to them in my tank in order to determine the distance.

Hmmmm I dont seem to have any differance in cleaning my tank between the 400watt XM bulbs i had in my lumenarc's and the evos... I have always had to wipe my tank maybe twice a week... so 3-4 days?? I have one of those magnets so its quick and easy for me, so doesnt even register i have to do it half the time LOL Good thing too considering i have 28 sq ft to cover with my tank!!!! haha

I never had an algae bloom when i switched over either.. ???? How long are you guys keeping your lights on for? Mine are super close to the tank right now until I get in my big Yo-yos for the entire canopy to go on. And i have them come on around 11:30ish and go off around 9ish or a lil after.

I was cleaning my tank every 2-3 days with the MH as well. No changes there.

I was cleaning a little less frequently. I noticed the color of algae changed as well. It went from a green algae to brown. It is nothing significant for sure. Light cycle is blue 1100-100, all 100-700, blue 700-900, total dark 900-1100. Same cycle as the previous setup.

i moved them up to 18 in...its probably my light cycle as i work 12 hour shifts i turn them on before i leave then off when i return so realisticly its probably a 13.5 hour cycle. I need to get some timers...will give it a while ill posst feedback in a week or so. Thanks everyone for all the posts
