I am overdue for a light change and I have seen MH'S for like 20$ I know they won't last a year but if you can say get 6 months out of it instead of 100$ a bulb for a year would it not be worth it? Has anyone tried these cheapies?

I tried a 15k once. Worked fine. I think it was probably closer to 12k though.

Everyone I know that has messed with the cheap bulbs have had nothing but problems with them. Poor color, poor out put and very short life. Most are not UL listed.

I don't know about their life span or output as I never tested. but I actually switched back to my old bulb so I think that makes Scott's case here. Cheap back up maybe?

I have been running "The lighting dudes" bulbs since I have had my MH lights. I personally have no problems, my corals, and 'nems are all doing fine, and have been fine. I paid 60$ for 2 bulbs shipped. They are 150w DE 20k

19 months 2 weeks 1 day... i am about to order my 3rd set of bulbs. I run mine for 9 mos before changing them. I only run my halides for about 6.5 hours a day.

Thanks for the input that's good enough for me. What's the worst that could happen, if they don't work I get a better bulb.

I know this thread is kinda old, but I was using 1000bulbs to order mine. I've had no issues and saw, what I call, fast growth.
