Is there a chart or something that gives an idea for wattage and number of bulbs/reflectors per tank size?

Right now I have a 180 with four 250DE HQI. I was considering going with 2 400w mogul with luminarc reflectors. Is that going to cover the six foot length or will I need more?

With Luminarc III's you can get a decent 30x30 spread with 400w bulbs, but for a 72" tank IMO you need 3 bulbs.

Yes, you would need 3 Lumenarc minis to cover that area, but you could use your 250 de bulbs and get a tremendous amount of par. That is the exact setup that I run over my 180 and get 300+ on the sandbed.

Stacy has some knock off reflectors he likes better than his lumenarch mini's. Give him a shout.

Todd are you running an independant ballast for each socket?

Yes I am, and I can also get new Lumenarcs much cheaper than retail if you decide to go new.

Thanks todd. I might go that route. Right now I'm weighing some options but I'll let you know if I do.

How does the lumenarc mini compare with/to the lumenbright mini? What would make one choose one over the other? Does it come down to price?

Lumenarc has a wider spread than the Lumenbright.
