View Full Version : Blinded by the light....

So I just got done reworking and firing up one of Chris' old aqua medics.....

ARO ballast so's I can flop the chincy 54W T5's over to 96W monsters... new wiring and cleaner connections (I'll post pics when I get a chance). Next on the list is a pair of fans to keep the sucker cool. With the ushio 14k's in there (thanks scott!) I must say, the thing is nothing short of blinding! Cant wait till I get the 96W actinics in there to replace these old 54's and hang the thing! If I play my cards right and tomorrow doesnt suck it's going up tomorrow night (with the 54's natch).

just gotta make the time to mount these fans in and I'm set.... gonnnnaaaa be sweeet. I'm gonna have a bunch of blinded fish

so..... in typical ADD fashion I mounted the sucker anyhow.... screw it

amazingly, nothing got real pissed when I turned it on.... Granted the room was lit, and it's a whole 24 inches above the tank for now.... but WOW!!!!

I already get good polyp extension 24/7 and everything was out already when I popped the big thing on.... uhm

WOW!!! I know what's ahead of me now... fans and pics.... and unfortunately lots of top off.... ugh

but.... WOW

how about a picture joe?

Joe I have a couple extra fans you can have. They keep my fixture in the 90 so cool you can keep your hand on it all day. One blowing in and one sucking out. I took the side plates off the light fixture so the fans can blow through the whole inside of it.

They are ushio 14K's with t-5 actinics

11-14-2007, 07:20 PM
cool, thanks mr. 2000.

11-14-2007, 11:06 PM
yeah the actinics are the ones that were in the fixture so I'm sure they're old... but hey... all the more reason to go with 108W supers he he

11-14-2007, 11:08 PM
Actually those t-5s were only in that fixture for about 2 months :)

11-15-2007, 12:07 PM
the ballast is over driving them like crazy... so I ordered to T-5 VHO super actenics for it.

This should prove to be interesting.

comon scott...stop babying him there is this stuff called fake tan. you rub it on and you look like you have a tan...spray places at most tanning places would work too...so there are options for the light sensitive
