I run the 1,000 watt versions and love them, i'm thinking about buying a helios 20K for my 250w DE frag display tank, if/when i do i'll let you know how it looks. So far for me the XM 20K has made the corals look the best.

I have never used them. Let me check some data and I will give you a rough guess.

From what I am seeing their 12k is like a 6500k and their 20k is more like a 14k in terms of color.

appreciate the help. i was thinking about going with the pheonix bulbs until i saw these. i like the 14 spectrum i get from my hamilton lights , but i want to get the most par i can out of my 250's . your thoughts?

Unfortunatly no one regulates who calls a 14K and what a 14k constitutes. What I like to consider a 14k is that ice blue look. I think your best options for 14k looking lamps are Ushio 20k, and Radium 20k, a pheonix is almost 16k but lacks some actinic. Do you have Vho or T5 actinics, cause the pheonix packs a punch it just lacks good actinic supplementation?

You can buy them from www.premiumaquatics.com commodity axis is great but you have to print out the fax form and fax in your order, you can't do it online despite them having a shopping cart, it never works LOL
