You know, if the tank looks good who cares about skimmate?
I think if the phos. and nitrate are low and theres no nasty algae in the tank then don't worry.

Man thats a nice tank Ro! I thought the ATI is a kick azz skimmer that would give you that dark nasty skimmate. I almost went for the BM 200 but Orca quoted me a price for under $500 so I just went with that. Looks like I made the right call. Man skimmers can just be 1 big guessing game sometimes.

Yah, Aqua C and the spray induction is outdated. They were great when it was first introduce but with the needlewheel and meshwheel skimmers that are out now, Aqua C is not as effective as folks thought. Time for you to make a request to Santa!

10-24-2007, 07:36 AM
eh my aqua C hang on back works great for my lil 72, I wouldnt recommend it for anything bigger... the lack of needlewheel keeps my pods intact too which is a bonus for someone like me. I get excellent skimmate, but then again I'm a big overfeeder

I'm dreading the need for a larger skimmer with the tandem tank design.... suck!

I'm glad your skimmer is working well so fast Russ.
Mine took months to break in and get a good dark skimmate going.
Deep.........I know what you are saying, you pay good money for a skimmer and want it to perform.
It seems like when I quit constantly messing with it and always adjusting then it finally started working good :)

Dunno Jeff. That was the price he gave me. It took a long time to build tho. Because of it, he threw in a bubble plate for almost nothing. It was like 507 shipped. Its basically a prototype and he told me that he was going to mark it up a little on other ones he makes. Give Shan a holler at protein-skimmer.com

No nasty skimmate for me either. I run a EuroReef and maybe empty the green tea out of the sprite bottle (drain in the cup emptys into a plastic sprite bottle) every couple weeks. Plus I have to turn the skimmer off for a day when I do a water change because of all the micro bubbles that come bubbling out.

I have to admit if I wasn't in this hobby and had no idea what it was I would be the first out there to see "I wonder what that's like?" However being in the hobby I don't think that I could force myself in there, even though it's nothing like the skimate from a closed system, but still:frown2:

I had to rework the rock work on the left side of the tank. It was kinda tight where it was originally was. Its got some good room to grow now.

yeh Kirblit got a pic of my skimmate accident not too long ago. the pics on the first page were of the house behind me on the next street over. I have an ASM G-2 that cranks the skimmate. It took a week to stop the green tea and now it makes an alien sludge that stinks so bad it pollutes my whole house when I empty it (my house has 4 levels!). it is so rank I hyperventilate, hold my breath and run it to the bathroom where I plunge it into the toilet underwater and flush while trying not too pass out from holding my breath too long. :yikes:

Christ, it will remove everything. I bought it from Deltec but Doug has been MIA lately. There is a guy name Marvin with Atlantis Aquarium in VA will stock Deltec stuff. I may order couple container to clean my A-300. I will get couple extra container if you interested to try.

Reefkoi
01-30-2008, 10:26 AM
yes get me some I'll buy them off of you. I saw it at the Deltec booth at the last

I have been trying to contact Doug in the past couple weeks but no luck. I think he is going through some tough time :D. I will contact Marvin today to see if he has it in stock. The EZ clean help remove everything and make your BK look spotless....

Reefkoi
01-30-2008, 10:56 AM
alright cool. I want something that will remove coralline off of intake screens and return nozles, will it work good for that? Do you just soak the parts in a bucket of the stuff then brush it all off?
C

480greefer
01-30-2008, 11:13 AM
Yup, just let it sit in the bucket of warm tap water for couple hours. No scrubbing require...

Reefkoi
01-30-2008, 11:16 AM
sweet I can't wait to try it, I usually throw away my coralline encrusted screens and whatnot, I've tried vinegar, hydrochloric acid and can never get them clean. This product sounds safer and much more effective.
C

480greefer

My injection plate used to be full of Coraline and there is no way to stick anything inside there to clean. Only EZ clean can do the work without stinking up the house.

Reefkoi
01-30-2008, 11:44 AM
Cool, my sump is dark so i never get anything on my BK, its just things like the tunze streams and intake screens on my overflow i want to clean.
My 6200's are getting pretty caked with coralline, I need to get them cleaned up soon.

480greefer
01-30-2008, 11:46 AM
Dude, you are such a rookie :D. Why don't you cut the screen so you don't have to deal with coraline clogged up your intake? All my tunze has been cut, i also notice improvement on flow....

Reefkoi
01-30-2008, 11:55 AM
I did mod the screens!!!!!!!!!! don't you remember?? I'm talking about taking the screen off the clean the prop and inside of the tunze when the alarms start going off soon.
