I have two of them one I just sold ,but I think they work pretty good as long as you mant them but for the price you can get a asm.

I started off with one. It worked great. I bought a new Oceanic 2700 pump with needle impeller. Then I found a good deal on an ASM so I replaced it. Just cause... What I've experience so far, their about the same. Still have the T-1000 sitting in the garage. If you're interested let me know, we can talk...

Just say no to the aquamedic. Old technology. Small body with an even smaller neck. For a little bit more, you can get a much better skimmer. Sorry ASM lovers, but its also old technology. Tell us your budget and we can go from there.

Hehe! But what I was saying to sneezy was, if he was going to get a new skimmer, why settle for the old stuff if he can get something better for a few bucks more. ASMs are ok skimmers. But the sedra pumps that comes with it is no match with the newer skimmer pumps out on the market. Better air to water ratio and lower wattage. Plus it seems the bubble plate (thanks to Bubble King) is definitely a big help on the skimmer. ASM doesnt have that feature. Hey, if folks can advice others to put a billion watts of lights on thier tank. I can advice someone to pick up a better skimmer lol!

What does the bubble plate do? What are some skimmers you suggest that are with in range of an asm? I have a asm g3 and it works great, but I do think the pump could be better. I want to see how Paul's algae filter will work and consider that down the road.

The bubble plate reduces the turbulence inside the skimmer body therefor increases the time for the nutrients to stick to the bubbles. Thats one way of putting it anyways.

Is there a mod available to install a bubble plate on an ASM-G3? Anyone know.

Talking to Jiggy last Saturday, I think him and Roy will be looking into adding a bubble plate to Jigs ASM skimmer. Hopefully they could come up with something.

Well an ASM G3 runs around $270.00 (cheapest place I saw online) has a 6.5" body and is 24" tall. An Octopus Extreme Series 200 skimmer has a 8" body at 22.75" tall at around $290.00. Im just comparing the Octopus Skimmer due to its price. Of coarse The BKs, ATBs or the KZs skimmer are the big boys of skimmers. Really pricey tho.

The aquamedic will work for you. But like I said on that PM I sent you, just keep your fishload on the light side.

Russ, which Octopus do you have?

I dont have an Octopus Cliff. I had my skimmer custom made by Orca Systems. Same as Larry's.

That's right! Now I remember. The Toledo Edition. ;) Don't they use your specs as one of their standard skimmers?
