so as you know I am going to be swapping the solaris for 400w HQI's. I would prefer to keep my open top look over the 120. After browsing RC earlier today I found this.... i am torn between the Lumenbright Mini's and Lumenarc III Mini Stealth's in the pics below. I am leaning towards the lumenarcs at the moment though. I am planning on doing 2 400's over the 120, and 2 250's over my soon to be frag system. I have about the same amount of ceiling height to make up, so this is a pretty good representation of what mine would look like.

That's a clean looking setp.

yeah, I thought so too. he added some t5's to the front and back, afterwards. I was thinking of doing this to accomplish that.

since the 120 has euro bracing, build a small frame that sits on top. only the height of a retro kit. kinda like the cap he has except a few inches taller to hide a retro kit.

How about a pair of Sfiligoi Infinity XR6. Even has a dimmable programmable ballast.

The Sfiligoi pendants are insanely nice looking!
I have seen them in action, yeah the price is hard to swallow but how nice would they look Larry!

Elos has a cool new fixture out this year as well.
Look those up

yeah, I have a couple really sweet fixtures today browsing...

I talked to the guy's at luminarc, and the Mini Stealth III's will be ready in the next week or two. they are at RAP right now. plus I want to buy 4 pendants to cover the 120 and the frag system.

so I am pretty much set on getting the lumenarc's with vue ballasts, and well not sure on the bulbs, but they will be 20k.

Damn you should have told me about those being at RAP, I could have looked them over.........I was too busy going apes*** over the coral vendors booths to visit any drygoods vendors.

oh well... :D I figured these will be better for my situation since they have a 30x30 spread, and are pretty small.

Lumenarcs are great, thats all I run.
The brites need to be mounted much higher it seems to get the same spread...........which kind of negates the whole PAR thing LOL but if you have 400's on a 24" tank I suppose you are ok, but I believe in giving them as much light as you are paying for an not wasting any :)

Is there a good write up any where discussing the differences of all the pendants out there?

RC is going to have the most info on all the brands. most people go with lumenarc or lumenbright. the difference is lumenbrights are more focused while lumenarcs have a larger spread. (30x30) both do a great job and are very very bright. for me since I am not building a canopy, I want something small, that covers a larger area. I also like to look of that pendant.
