I ran across this online. Just wondering if anyone as seen or tried it yet? You can connect t directly to your computer and use their app.

The free app and user manual are here: http://www.apogeeinstruments.com/biotek-marine-downloads/

It appears to have identical specs to the handheld Apogee. I like that it has a recording capability. Anyone who uses Excel can quickly turn the data into a graph.

So I learned that Apogee actually makes it for BioTek, with some additional electronics to allow it to work with USB. That would explain the specification mach.

Sooooo....I just ordered one from Drs F&S.

I forgot about this thread. The software install was a bit flaky, so I contacted the seller and they tweaked the software and sent me the update. Great tech support. It installed and both the software and sensor work just great. I really like the recording function. It saves to a format that you can open with Excel and then convert to a graph. Way cool. An experienced Excel user could compile PAR recordings from multiple locations and create a 3D graph.

I was surprised to find that the 54W (actually 18W--long story) screw base supplemental LED bulbs measure upwards of 1,000 PAR a few inches below the sirface. That would explain why some of the corals were unhappy until I made some adjustments.
