Hello all,

Recently, I just added a flame angel into the tank and got the ick a few days after. So I decided to get a 23w uv sterilizer for my 55 gallon. I have soft and hard corals in the tank. Overnight, my corals have retracted and have not come out. Although, the UV has tremendously decreased the ick on the flame angel.

Water temp and parameters are in almost perfect condition.

The question is, would the uv sterilizer kill my reef? Please advice. Thank you!

Uv is completely reef safe. Likely that you have another issue with your closed polyps. My guess is that the flame angel is nipping.

Thank you for the response! Flame is actually doing a great job with the reef. Just worried that an outbreak within the tank would happen. I think the gramma started it, just didn't catch it soon enough due to it hiding at the time.

I run a huge UV on my reef system, and I wouldn't do another build without one.
