Have you ever used the rare earth magnets that are used in floating rocks? They are powerful, like break your damn finger powerful.

You cant see the ends of the tank... makes me wonder about a layer of steel rods supported on the ends and then used as a base to attach the rocks and corals on.

Could have foam in the middle to offset some of the weight. Magnets would just need to keep it stuck on the glass lightly if is is close to neutral buoyancy.

I take back my first statement.

It's magic and nothing more.

well I was thinking maybe use a thick piece if acrylic glued to back of tank glass with some thick acrylic rods and drill in to rock. so maybe 2or 3 large rods drill in to large base rock. so use 3 large pieces of live rock and then attach other live rock to the large base rocks till you make your float reef cliff ??? Just a thought

I think this says how to do it. Please translate.

Sounds Finnish. No idea how you would translate that.

I have two "floating" rocks mounted to the back wall. I had them mounted on my 3/4 acrylic tank as well as my current 1/2 glass tank. They have glass cleaning magnets molded into the ceramic, to hold them to the glass.

Okay. Didn't know you could do that, but I did it. Worked great. I wanted to read a bunch of nonsense. "Politicians the surface"

Dang, it's like seeing how a magic trick is done. I'm a little sad how simple the answer was.

Meh. I don't like this anymore. Too uncomplicated. I will see if I can engineer a much more difficult solution.

I think Joes method should involve electromagnets.
