I recently took the plunge and started a 26 gallon hex tank with the help of Coral Expressions. Currently I am cycling the tank with some live rock. I have also decided to break down my 65 gallon fresh water and convert it to salt as well. This will be a slow process as I will have to buy equipment here and there when I can afford it. I am excited about this new adventure/addiction and can hardly wait to show off both tanks once they are done.

I have a 29G sump, if you want it. Nothing fancy but it's worked for a few members. I got it in a trade and don't need it, it's yours if you want it

Thanks! Well I basically don't have anything for the 65 so I need sand, rock, protein skimmer and anything else I can't think of lol. We do have a 10 gallon tank we are going to use as a refugium for it. And I am looking for some more live rock for the hex and a hob filtration system.

Oh yeah, gotta make it to 25 posts. You'll be there in no time :P plenty of questions and reading to do at this stage. If anything, you can have my cell # :)

What inhabitants are you planning for the two tanks?

What is your FW 65 setup as? My mom is determined to get me to setup my 90 as an Amazon system...

The hex will have seahorses and I'm actually selling my 65 and buying a really nice 55 acrylic tank that's already drilled and plumbed. I haven't decided what to put in that one yet,but I have many many months to decide. I have to be able to afford the live rock for that tank. Geez that stuff is expensive.

The hobby in a nutshell! Lol it's good to have a reign on things, it'll give you time to research. If you're lucky, someone in the club will be shedding some LR for cheap.

If you haven't found these resources already, Live Aquaria has recommendations for animals, wetwebmedia.com is a great reading resource for anything related to the aquarium hobby, and the site owner, Bob Fenner, has a good book on with thorough setup advice; it also includes his articles on pretty much any fish you'll meet in the hobby ("Conscientious Aquarist").

GLWS!
