I knew the store wasn't great, but damn.

Their $80 water cow goby.

The fish is rotting away, stuck behind the filter. It was hard to find a place on the tank that wasn't covered with algae to take a picture.

I hesitate to guess how long it would take for a fish to get this rotten. I think this was the most expensive freshwater fish in the store. The maintenance schedule here must be severely lacking.

Horrible when shops don't take care of their system or livestock

Valley Pets?

Yeah.

I don't think I'd ever put anything in one of my tanks from that place.

Poor thing, was it dead or close to death?

It was very, very dead. Must have gotten wedged behind the filter intake and then died. If you open the original image you can see there are literally 1/4" deep chunks missing from the fish's flesh where it had rotted away.

That's terrible. I've been in valley pets once and would never go there again.

Well, after moving down here and seeing it whenever I go to the store, I wondered but never mind. Thank you for saving me the trouble.
