I found my RO/DI system but haven't used it for several years and several moves. It is a 6 stage system but i have never changed the filters. Which filters would i need to change? All of them?

Thanks Doyle,
I have always used all 6 stages since that is how i bought it. The TDS always read 0.0 but do i need all 6 stages?

Depends on your water I would think. My tap water is at 46tds so I run 1 sediment, 1 carbon, RO membrane and DI resin.

Plus 1.

My tap is 140 ish. I run 2 micons (.5 & 1 i think,) 1 carbon, 1 membrane, & 2 DI resins which is probably close to your 6 stage. As you pull out the cartridges you will see what you need to replace them.

I have a sediment, carbon, carbon, ro, di, di because my incoming TDS is like 40 so it's really just polishing before I hit the di resin

Does anyone know where to buy filters for this thing or am i forced to buy them from the manufacturer? Guy said on the phone it would be around $100 for all 6 replacements.

+1 he can. He has 1 micron and carbon filters already. Gonna order a membrane and canister when I remember to pester him.

And here are my membrane prices.

I can also order in some .6 micron carbon block filters if you'd like.

According to the TDS meter on my RO/DI my water comes in at 0.9 and works its way down to 0.01 after letting it flush and run for about 2 minutes before I fill up. Is that good? Obviously it goes out at 0.0 and I know that's good.

I do not see any price so that must mean they are free!

Bumping this up since i now have all new cartridges, thanks to bush and doyle, and they are installed however, i am still not getting any flow out of the membrane/DI cartridge?? I was really hoping to time this out with it up and running before i ran out of my LFS RO water! Anyone have any suggestions or if anyone gets the time and wants to take a look at it i would be very grateful. I'm still a few days out from back surgery so it hurts like a mother to work on it much. Thx.

Unscrew the connector joint and make.surenits not clogged. If pull off the end cap to the membrane also and check it's not clogged inside there either

You have to create back pressure to actually force water through the membrane otherwise it all goes through the waster water line

I call shenanigans, I've run my ro str8 waste line no back pressure or flow restrictor for oh how many years now????

Ok I think Levi was right! It was the lack of back pressure that was causing the water to not come out.

So new question::: How long should it take to fill a 5 gallon bucket? I left it on earlier for about two hours and only got about 2 gallons? is that correct? also the new DI filter canister i got from Bush only fills up about 1/4 of the way with water, is that correct?

Aquasafe Maximus RO/DI unit
50GPD membrane
all new filters

Thanks!!

1 gallon an hour seems a little slow. that could change though. sometimes my DI canister doesn't even show a level. So that isn't a problem.

if you have a 50gpd membrane I would say you need to look at the specs to make sure you have the right amount of pressure both in and out. If you are getting 30 psi in then it for sure isnt able to build enough pressure to get more than 24 gpd, the optimum level is around 60psi to get the 50gpd.
