So I am trying to find a new skimmer and in my skimmer part of my sump I only have 6"X by like 13" so I found a cadlights Gen3 PLS-100 Super space saving Pipeless protein Skimmer that will fit. anyone use this skimmer? reefbuilders had a good review on it.

What size tank? I couldn't be any happier with the hydor slim skim. Not the nano version. I had it on my 40g and it skimmed like a champ. Took 1 day to fully break in.

lsaint

Not yet, I'm pretty convinced for the price. There is about 600 posts 95% positive feedback on this skimmer on Reef2Reef.

My thoughts exactly.

I meant Reef Central earlier, not reef2reef. Good reviews.

A skimmer is just a bubble maker and funnel so I think they are all way overpriced. I think a wisk in old drill or an old blender would work pretty well as long as the volume matched the tank.

Hmm I may have to try a diy wine bottle skimmer just have to drill it for intake and output and make a collection cup

Yes, but they can be an integral part of the tank. The skimmer is one of the top three expensive lessons that we learn. Most of the cheap ones don't work and some of the expensive models are about as useless as t*ts on a boar hog. There are several DIY models you can build at home but you need a firm grasp on the concept ( which I don't truly have) ?

I thought you made one out of plywood, an old planer, and a bottle of cold duck.

Having played with this skimmer I will say it's likely the best less than $100 skimmer in the market. Do realize it's a $100 skimmer though. And rated for 65 gallons with a heavy bioload, oh hell no.
