I have a 36 Gal corner salt water and a 90 gal planted. I was trying to get another tank and upgrade the 36 Gal. Would it be easier to convert the 90? Im having a hard time finding a good deal on a tank. Money is tight. I also dont have room in the stand of the 90 for a sump so the current stand wouldn't work for one. I think spending a couple hundred on saltwater supply rather a tank would be better.

That's a gorgeous tank, you should keep it as is. Maybe be patient and see if a killer deal comes around on a reef ready.

Great looking planted tank. I would also keep it.

Petco is currently selling 55 gal tanks for $55 (until 24 Jan, I believe)

Yes, you can buy a cheap 55g but they are completely tempered and you'd have to run a hob overflow. I think patience will pay off.

+1, occasionally you find a screaming deal on Craigslist, often there are a few of us who if we find one will post the link here in the forums as well to help others get a good hookup. You may have to broaden your search to other areas as well like north of denver

Yeah I've been looking and hope to buy a 75 gal on there. I went and looked at it. The guy had three beautiful salt water tanks. I just need the money, hope he still has it when I have the money.

We went to buy a 55 but decided we would want something thicker and in the long run just want something bigger.

We will probably take advantage of the petco sale for our sump. Thinking 20L. I dont know were to even start building one but I have read a bunch on it.

You could also do a 40 breeder for a sump if you are looking to get a 75 display tank.

A 40b gives you a bigger foot print for equipment and rock. Definitely my recommendation. Plus it'll get your total water volume closer to 100 gallons which makes calculating items/dosing/ ratings a lot easier.
