So im venturing into saltwater for the first time. Right now im planning to have a 30g long with 20g sump. the 30L is going to be my display tank and i was wondering what lights you guys would recommend for a FOWLR then eventually a reef? Small high schooler budget

You can find LEDS pretty cheap here. That is what I would recommend to keep mom and dad happy on the electricity bill!

I'm south almost towards fountain man. Unfortunately I'm not really looking for trades but to help ya out you can just pay whenever I don't mind. The light just sits there I have 0 use for it

Yessir would be perfect, all you'd have to do is find the sweet spot for height

if these are the divided tanks like the ones that Petco uses, they are 48" long not 36" long

slight change of plan. i'm debating using MH lights and i was thinking about 1. how many i would need 2. what they would cost 3. could they be mounted in my canopy without burning it. or even LED's i want the best growth with hard and soft corals and the least amount of yearly cost. im not afraid of a little DIY!

Least amount of yearly cost rules out MH!
