I just moved from Phoenix to the Broomfield area of Denver and successfully moved my reef tank with me. I have been in the hobby for about 7 years and couldn't be happier to be out of the Phoenix heat. I have a 150 mixed reef tank and am a LPS junky..although I do have sps and softies as well. Can't wait to get to know a new community here.http://tapatalk.imageshack.com/v2/14/11/07/9acafc8361924efdb3b225d5dc1360b7.jpg

Welcome, from a former Phoenix west sider. Well, about 34 years ago.
Your tank looks great. Did you move everything up here with you, or start over?

I did indeed move everything with me. It was a hairy experience, I lost one fish and one coral....so all in all I was pretty happy.

I am a former east phoenix girl. I don't miss it (other than the fish community) yet, but ask me after a real snow and we'll see! Hah. I just couldn't see starting over since I have been collecting for so long...

Also, thanks for the kind words...I am in the market for a new camera, as mine isn't so great for tanks shots....

You definitely need to write up a thread on exactly how you moved your tank, all the details. Your tank looks awesome! Welcome to Colorado!

It was pretty simple as far as the techniques for moving everything, just a lot of planning. I will for sure post about it though. Thanks!

Welcome to Colorado and congrats on the successful tank move. We have another reef club in Denver that may have some stuff a little closer to home since you are North of Denver.

The other club is called Marine Aquarium Society of Colorado (aka MASC) and we are actually having a swap next weekend up north in Loveland.

You can check out MASC @ www.marinecolorado.org

Okay.. I was wondering where all my fellow reefers were at...I was thinking reefcentral was pretty quiet.

Thanks everyone! Yes that is a photo after the move...I can't believe it either...I had set myself up for disappointment when I could hear and see water sloshing all over my car...it was an 18 hour drive...but I couldn't have been happier when I started pulling things out of buckets and Styrofoam containers.

One funny thing though, in Phoenix we don't really have basements, so I didn't even think about the weight of the tank until I got here. I could feel the floor shaking if I walked by the tank, so I did go out and buy some house jack stands...they are supporting the beams under my tank now and the floor feels solid again now. Lol. I can just picture coming home to my tank in the basement.

MASC has more members.
After the influx of new members from Fragtoberfest we are not far behind MASC at all.

And yes we would very much appreciate a detailed guide to how you did the tank move. In the springs we have a huge military community and people move often so this type of help is greatly appreciated. Nice looking tank!
