Nice, love my feather duster, looking good!
Last time I checked my watch this was America!

Well, my water is crystal clear this AM, and I got my HOB overflow running almost silent. Happy camper this morning!:biggrin5:

Awesome! Did you add some sort of jump start product to speed up your cycle?

TheMadReefer

No, the duster was alredy on the rock that RR gave me.

Ok, someone mentioned these in a thread recently (don't remember who) I think I will buy the 2 quart container of 1-1/2" spheres to go in my sump. what do you guys think?

Would this be overkill for my tank? (36x13x21) I was thinking of mounting it on yo-yo's and it is dimmable.

I have some in my sump. I can't tell if they are working but I have a clean system. They have good reviews.

TheMadReefer
10-20-2014, 11:41 AM
They seem like a good idea in theory, I just worry my flow is too slow. I could put a powerhead in I guess.

I have two of the bigger blocks in my sump, haven't had them long enough to give a review. You can find them cheaper than that e-bay price. Check My reef to Yours and Dr Foster and Smith.

A common misunderstanding that people have is they have a rule of thumb of 10-20x flow in your reef. That is not the case for the sump. Your flow may be just fine.

TheMadReefer
10-20-2014, 11:51 AM
They are cheaper at drs. Foster and smith, but by the time you add in shipping it's a wash. Does anyone sell them locally?

myreef2yours was selling them at fragtoberfest. He is in Pueblo.

Overkill imo but allows you to upgrade at a later date.

So seems like my little Fluval Sea skimmer is making a bit of froth, should I turn down the air or raise the collection cup?

You want foam. Unless that's not what I'm looking at. The foam is the skimate

Bummer but it happens. Now to figure out how to prevent another. I was changing the filter socks on JJs tank and two of his fish were inside and still alive!

JJs fish are stupid

All fish are stupid and weak.

The fish life.
Just keep swimming, swimming, swimming, dont eat, swimming, swimming, oh wait im scared, swimming, give myself a stressful disease, cant breath, dont eat, swimming, swimming, give the rest of the fish a stressful disease, still refuse to eat, swimming, die.

Or

Swimming, swimming, swimming, die.(this is my favorite reason to hate fish)

Or

swimming, swimming, oh im hungry, oh there is a bright expensive plant, oh im full, die

Or

Im weak, this bag sucks, die

Or

swimming swimming swimming, hey new guy, I dont like you new guy, I will pick on you because your pretty and look expensive, now you die new guy, see you jn a week when I die

Or

Hey that big green living carpet looks comfortable, die

See the end result?

I have a designer clown who keeps going over the overflow. Luckily that tank has a "buffered" overflow, meaning the drain pipe is raised 6" with a drain grate on top, so there's the full 6" of water in the overflow before it drains. I've had to fish my clown out of there multiple times.
