Ok. This may sound silly. But I have an honest question. I am moving soon and when I move will my tank have to do another cycle? Also if I was going to set up a new tank would it speed the cycle up if I was to get water from members when they do water changes??

I think the key is to keep all of your rock wet and warm. Do not disturb the sand bed, as much as possible. the water doesn't have much in it to get a tank cycle going. Best bet would be live rock or something like that. I use ceramic filter beads and those scrunchy things that everyone has in their shower. Buy them new and throw in the sump for a while. Pods love them too.

If keeping stuff live isn't an option, I started with 3 pieces (25lbs) of live rock and a 20lb bag of live sand and my tank cycled in about 2 weeks. Total rock is about 120lbs, total sand is about 120lbs.

Use some kind of bacteria additive as well. Just in case.
