I just upgraded to a 55 gallon tank and and i have a few lighting options and i was wondering what you guys thought. When i bought the tank i got some free lights with it. These lights are pc's, 48 inch, 4 bulbs. I was planning on buying 4 new bulbs all 50/50 (white and actnic) 65watts plus 2 stunner strips both completely blue. http://www.drsfostersmith.com/product/prod_display.cfm?c=3578+3733+21598&pcatid=21598

Do you guys think the pc's plus the 2 stunner strips will be enough for a 55 gallon mixed reed or should i just buy something else? I have a 36 inch 4 bulb t5 ho set up i could hang over the tank by it self but i think that isn't enough light.

I see no reason that the T5's wouldn't work. Your two sides might be a little limited however. I was going to go with T5's but decided to jump into LEDs instead when I had my 55 gallon. If you wanted to do some really high light loving corals/clams a 6 bulb unit would probably be best.

So you guys recommend going with the 4 bulb 36 inch t5 ho over the 4 bulb 48 inch pc's with 2 stunner strips?

PCs do nothing but lose power fast and get very hot.

T5s!!

Pretty sure that even though the t5 is shorter it will still put out more par than the PCs.

They are 24inch bulbs that fit in a 48 inch fixture. Two bulbs on each side of the fixture.
