Just noticing as i look and read about Leds, That some of the new fixtures are using red, blue, and greens are these really need? Doesn't the white leds have all these colors in them? If i remember right from science class white light is made up of all the colors. Do you need them in your led systems or is blue white and uv all you really need . and wouldn't those added color cause nu-since algae 2 go crazy? Just wandering.

Uv doesn't really do much. When you shine a uv light on a coral it throws up a defense which looks "cool" to people. Blue and white is all you need... IMO

with the lights being led keep it simple only need your blues and whites. remember you want to make sure the lights are gonna be enough cover area for the tank. you need to focus on the size of the light and watts and how big your tank is (COVERAGE IS KEY). It also depends on what kind of price range you are working with. research research research lol

If you want to see some Chinese lights in action talk to bush. I'm sure he will chime in here later.. he has Chinese lights and they look great over his 180 full blown reef.

lol, yeppers! I've got an EVO and 2 chinese sitting over my lil piece of the reef. I have yet to find which ones they are and noone can remember either, but they grow every coral in my tank and keep my clams happy. I love talking tank and explaining what I've done (always the wrong way...lol) so if you're ever up this way and wanna swing by and check out the lights, just LMK and we can work out a time.

Which color combination are the Vegas? Are the SOL and the Vega are the same price at $360? How about price for the new controller or the upcoming Director?

Have no idea on the controllers. The Vegas are 460. Sols are either 360 or 370 shipped to your door. If you want a controller I can get them discounted ONLY if you buy the lights. As for the Vega color combo they r every color on the spectrum I believe. All colors are controllable and upgradeable by firmware.

Agree. Depending on the wavelength, UV does little but provoke defensive mechanisms. White is pretty much for aesthetics only, which is important. You'll get the best photosynthetic response and growth with light sources emitting anywhere in the 400-500 nanometer range.
