Ok so I have been back and forth with this tank. I have decided to keep it. What should I stock in it? Fish first than maybe corals.

Ideas?

Make it a nem tank with 2 cool clowns

I have only had one nem that I bought from a guy on the board. I saw him for about 2 days and now he is missing. Me+nems= disaster.

I am thinking about some gobies. But they hid too much. I want some fish that I can enjoy swimming.

The only thing is your kinda limited do to the size of your tank. You could try 2 red firefish and 2 purple.
In my sons 12gal we had 2 clowns and a clown goby but hardly ever saw the goby once you would walk up to the tank it would take off.

That is what I am thinking. I like clownfish but they are in my other tank. I kinda want something different. Decisions, Decisions.....

If I was going to do another cube I would do some designer clowns and a sweet nem. The clowns I've seen lately are amazing and some of the nems I've seen on reef2reef look like there from another planet lol!

The first tank I had a few years back was a 12g Aquapod with a small, 4" at best, RBTA, and a pair of clowns. I upgraded the pump and lighting to a 150w sunpod because I felt the nem wasn't flourishing like it should because of the low flow and stock lighting. About a year later the RBTA almost tripled in sized, and I ended up having to upgrade as a result. Not that I wasn't ready for it; the whole thing just turned in to a P.I.T.A.

I suggest a ricordea and zoa tank with a couple firefish. The firefish don't really demand a huge volume of water, are reef safe, cheap, and look really cool! Just my two cents :)

I'm just not sure about the lighting. It's nothing special so I'm not sure what can live under it.

Could always get non photosynthetic corals like chili coral, gorgonians, tubestrea, etc.

Can always get a EVO spot over it like mine, the RBTA and the other corals are all doing great. But do yourself a favor and build a sump for it. I have a 10 gallon sump on mine, it has made it so much easier, and the water is much better.

I was thinking about the Evo spot. How would you build a sump for a system like this?

Does it have an overflow box? How is the water getting to the sump?

It's a siphon you could do a DIY over flow that fits into one of the chambers

If I were you, I'd have it drilled. Its worth it for the cleaner look.

I agree and than there is way less stress if there is a power outage but if it is already up and running you can go this route.

When I had it I was just going to run black PVC screwed to the back of the stand and run it up and over the tank and zip tie the cords to the PVC but I guess if you got big enough PVC you could run the cords through it.

I zip tied the moonlights onto it. Works great. Gotta have zip ties in stock all the time.
