I have a coralife aqualight clamp on MH 150w. This is the only place i have to mount anything looking for suggestions on how to make moonlighting for my biocube. Here is a link to the light i have http://www.thatpetplace.com/pet/prod/209456/product.web

I've heard of some guys putting cheap car LEDs in, you know those effect lights from autozone. You'll need an ac to dc converter though.

I've used surface mount LEDs and resistors with an available wall ac to dc converter in the past. But I know how to solder and calculate all the volts and resistances and such. It's not too complicated though.

Guilty as charged. However, it was on a small nano tank. I strapped two sets of auto leds to the light bar and hooked them up to a simple 12 adapter. attache to a timer and walla, instant moon lighting. The tank was only a 6 g Fluval Edge but they worked great. I think they cost me $4 a string and had 6-9 blue leds per string. The cool thing is that they were both water proof and flexible.

I went to autozone they do have blue led's but they are all ran on 12 volts not sure how to convert it to make them work in a regular plug? I saw at a LFS they have a three led with the power pack for around $30 just don't know if that would be enough.

Can't remember if this was what i bought though.

Just saw these and ordered 2 for myself, just for the coolness factor of having remote control lights as well as a huge variety of colors.

unless you can dim them IMHO, that is going to be too much light. I built one of the 3 led car units an pointed them up into each of my reflectors. they gave out a lot of light. that lightbulb is similar to a par 38 bulb.

Believe they are 20 par, but they are dimmable I believe. Will see how well they work here shortly

I tried the car leds it doesn't look good at all guess i will have to keep thinking. I bought the three spot light leds and no matter where i point them it the light just doesn't light up the tank.
