So this is going to sound dumb, but I am going to ask. If you get a frag and it is glued to a plug will it always live on the plug? If you get a frag without a plug how do you get it to stay?

It will grow off the plug. If you don't have a plug just super glue it to a rock. Use the gel stuff.

Well, I bought some corals from Reefkoi at the fragswap on Saturday and was faced with the whole placement issue. What I ended up doing was following the instructions at:

Other than using far too much putty it turned out pretty good. I figure the putty will get covered over about as quickly as those far too bright white frag plugs. ;)

One thing to keep in mind about epoxy putty is that it generates heat. If you glue SPS directly to the putty, the heat generated can kill the coral. Just something to keep in mind.
