Stumbled onto this article in Popular Mechanics (I think the issue was about six months old) and thought you guys might find it interesting.

It would appear the University of Michigan has developed an organic LED that represents the color blue better.

Searching Google I found a bunch of articles -- here's a few with headlines:

Researchers from Singapore's Institute of Materials Research and Engineering (IMRE) and the University of Michigan have developed a blue organic light emitting diode (OLED) with an efficiency level that is double the maximum theoretical limit. This paves the way for longer-lasting, more efficient and vivid OLED displays for the consumer market.

I wonder if this will affect reef lighting???

It's a possibility that it could change reef lighting. I guess it would really depend on the spectrum/wavelength that the new LEDs are emitting.
